“Dead in Fred” Reading Tombstones Tour-March 24, 2018

Take this unique tour to learn about the interesting history of tombstones in the Masonic and City Cemeteries.

Discover how these markers have changed over the decades and reflect the time period when they were created. The story behind the symbols and imagery will have you take a second look next time you walk past a cemetery.

UMW Professor Andrea Livi Smith will lead the tour and share her extensive research on the topic.

The tour is on Saturday, March 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The tour will begin at the Masonic Cemetery at the corner of Charles & George Street.
