Eligibility Requirements / Nomination Guidelines:

To be eligible for one of the Foundation’s Annual Preservation Achievement Awards (E. Boyd Graves Preservation Award, President’s Award, Lillian D. Reed Volunteer Award, Dr. Edward Alvey, Jr. Education Award, and Susan Ford Johnson Historic Preservation Award), nominated projects must meet the following requirements:

(1) Must have been completed sometime between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31 of the year immediately preceding the current award year

(2) Completed work should comply with the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) Standards for the Treatment (Preservation, Rehabilitation, Restoration, and/or Reconstruction) of Historic Properties.

Projects involving historic and/or new buildings or structures may be residential, commercial, industrial, or institutional in nature. Historic landscape projects, as well as contributions to preservation education or program development, are also eligible.

Recipients for HFFI’s Lifetime Preservation Achievement and Service Awards (Pillars of the Community Award, President’s Award, and the Executive Director’s Special Recognition Award) are selected by an appointed Award Nominations Committee with input from the Board and Executive Director.

Nomination Process

Award recipients are chosen by an appointed Awards Nominating Committee with input from HFFI’s staff and Board of Directors.  Selected awardees will be notified by mail once the selection process is completed.

Submission Deadline

Completed nomination forms should be postmarked no later than February 10th of the current award year.
