HFFI Announces a New Community Partnership
Initiative In April of 2010,
Joseph-Beth Booksellers, who is opening a brand new store
and restaurant in Spotsylvania Town Center, graciously
invited HFFI to become a participating member of their
Gives Back program. Everyone here at HFFI is very excited
about the opportunity.
For those who are not familiar with
the company, the Fredericksburg location is Joseph-Beth’s
sixth store. The 20,000-plus square foot venue offers
not only thousands of books, but also a children’s area,
community-meeting rooms, and their unique restaurant,
Bronte Bistro. Importantly for HFFI and its members, Joseph-Beth
has a long standing commitment to supporting the communities
they serve. In each of their stores' home communities
the company selects between one and four partners to participate
in their Gives Back program. In all, they are direct partners
with 29 local non-profits including organizations dedicated
to literacy advocacy, humane societies, children’s hospitals,
zoos, public radio, and the arts. HFFI is now one of these
hand-picked groups.
Joseph-Beth’s mission is “to foster
the love of learning and reading in the communities they
serve.” HFFI is thrilled to be partnered with such
a community-focused organization. We encourage all of
our members to stop by the new store in the Spotsylvania
Towne Center. Sign up to become a Joseph-Beth member….
and tell them HFFI sent you!
Joseph-Beth Booksellers joins the Fredericksburg
community Member Program to benefit the HFFI
Neil and Mary Beth Van Uum opened
the first Joseph-Beth store in Lexington, Kentucky in
November 1986. The original bookstore began with 37,000
titles in a 6,500 square foot space. Today the 40,000
square foot bookstore is the flagship of the Joseph-Beth
family! We also serve the needs of readers of all
ages in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Charlotte,
and in Nashville and Memphis as Davis-Kidd Booksellers.
The newest member of the Joseph-Beth
family is the store located right here in Fredericksburg
in the Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre. The
company looks forward to continuing its strong tradition
of excellent customer service and fantastic selections
that will earn them a place as your local bookstore. When
customers shop with Joseph-Beth they will have the option
to join The Joseph-Beth Gives Back preferred customer
program. When a member joins the annual program,
they will be able to select the Historic Fredericksburg
Foundation to benefit from their purchases, and participate
in fundraisers throughout the year. Members also
will receive a free meal at their Bronte Bistro, special
discounts, offers and invitations to exclusive author
events.
“We do a lot in the way of community
partnerships and trying to understand the important organizations
in town that we can work with, help, and synergize our
efforts,” said Neil Van Uum, the company’s CEO.
Each year the company also partners with hundreds of non-profits,
schools, daycares, churches, and community groups to provide
fundraising book fairs and gift card drives, textbook
and bulk purchasing services.
Today, thanks to our customers and
community partners, the Joseph-Beth Group is one of the
most successful and knowledgeable independent booksellers
in the country.
